For Your Money:
The Copper House Distillery sits within the wider Adnams brewery and uses many of the same local ingredients. From the top of the building you can see some of the best views in Southwold, looking across the rooftops to the Lighthouse and North Sea beyond. The tour, which lasts around an hour, offers an insight into the distilling process and demonstrates the sheer amount of thought that goes into botanical selection as well as their grain to glass approach.
After the tour there is a 30 minute tutored tasting, in which the guide will help you to understand the flavours you’re experiencing. They also give you (at the time of writing) 10% off your purchases in the Adnams Southwold store when you spend £20 or more – which let’s face it, you will given there are three tasty gins and many more awesome spirits, beers and local treats..!
A few thoughts from Gin Foundry:
They offer private tours which can be a little more in depth if you call up and talk to them ahead of time, so if you have a group of 10 to 12 people and want to get geeky, they’ll gladly go there. They are a great way to bring a team of colleagues together or simply make a visit to Southwold memorable.
