Junipalooza London

What’s Junipalooza you ask? Let’s break it down:
Juni: an abbreviation of Gin’s signature botanical, juniper.
Palooza: a party, celebration or festival.

Junipalooza is back! Taking place at Tobacco Dock to celebrate World Gin Day 2018 on the 9th and 10th June, the theme of this year’s festival is Experience: we want to take you on a journey through the minds of Gin makers, with Fever-Tree, Caorunn, Warner Edwards and Copperhead each taking a room within the vaults to build whole new worlds of Gin.

The annual Gin festival is very much one of a kind; not only are all of the makers behind each gin there to talk you through their products in person, but every single gin is free to sample (responsibly) and comes with the option to try neat or with tonic. Take notes and take your time, as with so many Gins to pick from you’ll want to make sure you have the time and temperament to taste as many as you want.

There’ll be over 60 gin distillers in attendance, with over 200 gins on offer between them. Once through the door, you’ll be handed a tasting glass, a show guide and some water and sent on your way to a four house Gin Odyssey. Your ticket entitles you to sample any gin you’d like to try, as well as access to a range of  masterclasses from industry experts (these are first come first served), a great cocktail bar from the team at The Gibson, and a room full of Gin geeks having the best time since… well, last year.

Junipalooza is a great chance to hear the stories, dreams and ideas that have gone into each drop of gin being being served. We have a strict owner or maker policy at the show, so this is a very unique opportunity to meet the makers behind craft gins from around the world, with distillers (and drinkers) from all all over the world flying in to join in the festivities.

You’ll also have the opportunity to buy directly from the makers but if you prefer doing it all in one go, our sister shop Gin Kiosk will have a click and collect a shop on. Simply take your tasting notes to them at the end of the session and pick up an armful.

This will be Junipalooza’s fifth year and we’re already pretty confident that it’s going to be the best, too. We’ve got in some stellar food options, we’re making sure you’re going to be well watered and you’ll be presented with more opportunities for mixing your gin than you ever thought possible.

up their beautiful baby still, Satisfaction, and have installed it here. It’ll be the
ultimate distilling masterclass AND you’ll be able to see the gin bottled here and now.

No other Gin show, drinks festival or booze based event has ever done this so
you’ll be the first of the first of the first of the first, from tasting through to bottling. With the still on one side, Warner Edwards also has a bar sampling their full range so you can try your way through the Harrington based distillery’s award winning array of flavours and styles.

The masterclasses (book ahead) are hosted by Tom, Jeremy and Lois, the
Warner Edwards distillation dream team. They’ll be around 40 minutes long and held in intimate groups. They will cover what is being distilled in all its geektastic glory.

You’ll get to taste spirit in its various stages, from heads, hearts and tails. To finish, you will be able to label and wax your own 20cl Junipalooza Gin to add to an already laden W.E goody bag… all for £15!

The Gibson

Say hello to Copperhead Gin’s Gibson Edition – a new category of savoury
gin. With a hint of spice and umami intensity, it complements the classic
Gibson martini and its delightfully strange pickled onion garnish.

The gin is a collaboration between The Gibson Bar’s Marian Beke and Copperhead in Belgium, with the five original botanicals (juniper, coriander seed, cardamom, angelica, and orange peel) joined by 14 pickling spices.

They have brought back this partnership for Junipalooza, re-creating a pop-up
version of the stylish London Bar, along with the signature serves made with the gin. Not content with just having a bar, the team also has their tasty trio of gins
served on a trolley for those looking for a sample. Taste the gins, try a mini cocktail flight and hear from some of the world’s most famous barkeeps about
how they approach collaborations. You know where to find us…

You’ll then be allowed to take it home, making the small matter of homework a lot more fun.

The Sunday session is an hour longer than Saturday's, meaning you have a little longer to talk, schmooze and sip your way around the show.

Please note, all stands will stop serving gin 10 mins before the end of the session.

Stay Sharp and discover all the flavours

Water plays a vital role in gin tasting. Not only does it keep you in peak tasting condition, but certain ABV's will favour certain flavour profiles and it is a fact that many distillers take seriously. For most gins, water is 60% of the contents of the bottle...

When it comes to tasting - with careful addition of water to your glass, you can unlock all the nuances in each of the gin. Give it a try over the weekend and please, enjoy your drink responsibly.

Tobacco Dock is located at the junction of Wapping Lane and Pennington Street, E1. The nearest Overground station is Wapping - no more than 5 minute walk from the venue.

More details and travel advice can be found on tobaccodocklondon.com

Is my ticket transferrable?

Unfortunately, tickets are not transferable or exchangeable for another session or date.

Can I get a refund?

We understand this can happen and in principal, this is fine and we will issue a refund as soon as we can, just email via the Eventbrite system, or directly to info@ginfoundry.com with your order number.

However, please note that we only accept and process refunds submitted before June 1st.

After this point, all tickets are non refundable, no matter the reason. Sorry.

How old is enough?

You must be over the age of 21 to enter Junipalooza.

We do allow adults who have bought tickets to bring their children (under 5) along, as long as there are two adults per child. As it is a gin show, please be aware there will be nothing to cater to children nor really the kind of place where they can just run around (as there are lots of rooms and they will be quickly out of sight).

Junipalooza is all about gin.

Please also be aware that we cannot accept any form of underage drinking whatsoever - even if it is the parent giving a seemingly innocent "sip, try, test" to their own child. Anyone seen doing this will be asked to leave immediately.

Can I buy gin at the event?

Each gin maker will be able to sell their gin from their stands, so you can by directly from the producers. Some will accept cards but many will not have machines, so if you specifically want to get your gin fix from the makers themselves, bring cash just in case.

Alternatively, to make it convenient and easy, Gin Kiosk will be also there, stocking all of the gins at the show, at the same price as on each of the stands. That way, you can pick it all up in one go, pay by card and not have to walk around laden with bottles!
