This was presented as a world exclusive with DFS at Singapore Changi Airport, where they showcased a new expression. Bombay Amber is a premium 47% ABV London Dry Gin that has been vapour infused with nutmeg, toasted black cardamom and bitter orange zest and further enhanced by resting in vintage French vermouth barrels. Bombay Amber has been specially crafted to enjoy neat over ice in cocktails such as the Negroni or the classic G&T, and aimed towards the sophisticated international gin lover. It falls in line with the growing trend for artisanal craftsmanship of barrel finished spirits and cocktails.
Bombay Sapphire is well known for breaking packaging conventions and owners Bacardi have opted for a new design for their Bombay Amber bottling. The bottle features a 70cl arch shaped bottle with wood top and brushed metal encases the clear glass through which the amber coloured spirit can be seen.
Bombay Amber will also launch at a select number of major international airports, including Sydney in April with Las Vegas and Toronto airports from May onwards. However, there is no plan for a roll out in the UK.
Richard Cuthbert, Bombay Sapphire Global Marketing Manager, says: “Bombay Amber is designed to encourage trade-up among existing gin drinkers and also to attract non-regular gin consumers and is the latest demonstration of how the Bombay Sapphire brand is able to deliver new levels of imagination and innovation. That approach is part of our commitment to global Travel Retail and will be supported through a series of limited editions from the Bombay Sapphire family to drive category value.”
